An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Gold of the Desert, the 1923 Henry King silent cowboy western ("Adapted from The Main Spring") starring Henry King, Ethel Pepperell, Robert Ensminger, Charles Blaisdell, and Cullen Landis. Note that this is a re-edited version of the 1917 film, "The Mainsping" (they simply moved the scenes around and added new intertitles that significantly changed the story). Because the two movies have real differences, we are listing them as separate titles, but this movie is sort of a re-release of "The Mainspring" (although they called it "The Main Spring" on the poster). Important Added Info: Note that first release 1923 movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single movie paper item from this movie until we received this one-sheet! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had small tears and tiny paper loss on parts of several folds, and some tears and paper loss around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. Someone mounted it to a thin linen with no excess, and they performed very rudimentary amateur restoration. The poster is separating from the thin linen around the edges and on parts of the folds. Absolutely, it should be removed from the thin linen and properly backed, and it will not require much restoration within the image area. Learn More about condition grades
