An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) John Ford's My Darling Clementine, the classic 1946 John Ford Tombstone Arizona romantic cowboy western (based on a story by Sam Hellman from the book 'Wyatt Earp, Frontier Marshal' by Stuart N. Lake; about the legendary showdown between the Earp Brothers and the Clantons in Tombstone, including the gunfight at the OK Corral) starring Henry Fonda (as Wyatt Earp), Linda Darnell (as Chihuahua), Victor Mature (as Doc Holliday), Walter Brennan (as "Old Man Clanton"), Tim Holt (as Virgil Earp), Cathy Downs (in the title role, as Clementine Carter), John Ireland (as Billy Clanton), Ward Bond (as Morgan Earp), Alan Mowbray, Roy Roberts, Jane Darwell, Grant Withers, J. Farrell MacDonald, and Russell Simpson. Note that 20th Century-Fox was apparently uneasy about spending so much money on a western, and to hedge their bets, they strongly pushed sexy Linda Darnell in the title role, and they even made a teaser 24-sheet, which solely showed sexy Linda Darnell, and which had the tagline "Men are lost and gone forever when they go for Clementine!". We have only auctioned three examples of it, and ALL THREE were in lesser condition (two were in downright terrible condition!). And we have only auctioned one in the past 23 years, and that was one of the really bad ones. It might be many years before we get this poster again in any condition! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had small paper loss at the top crossfold and tiny paper loss at the other two crossfolds. It had some tiny bits of paper loss on parts of the folds and some tiny pairs of staple holes around the edges. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Note that either the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster, or possibly the owner of the poster chose to carefully trim off the excess, so that the poster would fit in a frame.
