An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Twenty-Four-Sheet Movie Poster (24sh; measures approximately 9' x 20') (Learn More) The 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse, the 1962 Vincente Minnelli World War II (WWII) Nazi Germany France melodrama ("From Ibanez' immortal classic Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer presents an unforgettable motion picture."; "Paris, city of lovers... The day the clocks stopped turning and the world stood still..."; "Ibanez' unforgettable story sweeping you from the broad pampas of the Argentine to the boulevards of Paris, telling of Julio, with his fast cars and sleek women, of Marguerite, who tried to divide her love, and of Marcelo, who ran from one war to be caught by another. Telling of Madariaga, who built a Paradise and of Karl, who destroyed it, of Etienne, who knew the depths of man's depravity and Chi-Chi, who believed only in man's good. It tells of Elena, arrogant in her pride and Luisa, humble in her sorrow. It tells of Heinrich, drunk with the power that loosed the Four Horsemen on a helpless world."; "Now and then there is a motion picture for which the world is 'timeless'... This is one, for it tells a story that is big in today's world... It is fraught with the truth and terror, the loves and hopes of now... It is peopled with men who are heroic, women who are alluring... This is what happens in their hearts whether the place is Argentina or Paris... For this is all humankind when conflict comes and the clock stands still."; "Based on the novel by Vicente Blasco Ibanez"; "screen play by Robert Ardrey") starring Glenn Ford, Ingrid Thulin, Charles Boyer, Lee J. Cobb, Paul Henreid, Paul Lukas, Yvette Mimieux, and Karlheinz Bohm (billed as "Karl Boehm") NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Reynold Brown Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this 24-sheet (and it seems quite likely that it may well be the only surviving example)! At first glance, the art seems to be the same as that on the other posters, including the one-sheet (only rearranged), but THIS IS NOT TRUE! Most artists at this time did one piece of art that was used for the various size posters (blown up or rearranged), but Reynold Brown was aware that this poster would be blown up greatly, and so he created an entirely new gouache so he could get the Renaissance level of detail he wanted, which would still display well even in such a very large size! Also, his signature is visible on this poster (it was not shown on the other size posters, and very few of his posters for any of the movies he worked on show a signature within the image). Also note that the poster has a stamp on the back which says "120 x 128", but this is clearly wrong. We did not measure the poster, but it might be approximately 120" x 240", and the poster is certainly not remotely like a square! Also note that this twenty-four sheet was printed in 12 sections designed to overlap. Finally, note that the poster was folded more than most 24-sheets (this is how it came from the exchange), and while it will need to be sent in an oversized flat package, it will be one that measures approximately 14" x 24" (and not much larger, as with many 24-sheets). Condition: good to very good. The section of the poster that was on the outside when it was completely folded has darkened on the back (this falls in the top left of the image where the head of the man with the sword is). The darkening does not affect the front of that area. However, there are creases, tears, and some tiny paper loss along parts of several folds, but nothing major (see our image).
