A 1959 Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Forty by Sixty Movie Poster (40x60; measures 38" x 58" [97 x 147 cm]) (Learn More) Gilda, the classic 1946 Charles Vidor Buenos Aires Argentina romantic love triangle bad girl gambling casino crime film noir ("'Johnny, let me go, please let me go. I can't stand it any more...'"; "Now they all know what I am..."; "'I was true to one man once ...and look what happened!'"; "'I didn't think I'd be true to a man again as long as I lived...'"; "'I warned you to let me alone. And I mean it!'"; "There never was a women like Gilda!") starring Rita Hayworth (in the title role "as Gilda"), Glenn Ford, George Macready, Joseph Calleia, Steven Geray, Joe Sawyer, Ludwig Donath, Robert Scott, and Gerald Mohr. Note that the sheath dress that Rita Hayworth wears in the movie (designed by Jean Louis) certainly contributed greatly to the popularity of this movie! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this re-release poster appears to have been printed from the exact same plates as the original, but with different coloring. Whereas the original 1946 poster had a solid black background, this poster has a red background, and Hayworth is in black & white. We have never seen this poster before! And it (which was made only thirteen years after the original release) is much larger than the gazillion dollar original 1946 release poster with the same image! Also note that the poster says "A COLUMBIA REPRINT" in the lower right. This was a terminology used by Columbia Pictures at this time for some re-releases, and it has caused some collectors to be confused! This poster is the original poster from the 1959 re-release of this movie, and is NOT a "reprint"! Also note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 38" x 58". Condition: good. Someone trimmed off the blank borders, but they kept the small writing in the left of the bottom blank border that shows it is from 1959. There are some creases and scuffs scattered throughout, with pairs of staple holes in the top center and 8" to the left of that. Some of them are in the smoke, but the rest are in the red background. Please look at our super-sized image and consider the restoration costs (if you would choose to restore it) before placing a bid on this poster. Learn More about condition grades
