An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36" [36 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) The Gorgeous Hussy, the 1936 Clarence Brown early 19th century historical biographical romantic love triangle melodrama ("The producers of San Francisco present the next giant entertainment"; "From the novel by Samuel Hopkins Adams", who wrote the screenplay for "It Happened One Night"; very loosely based on the life of a famous Washington socialite at the time of Andrew Jackson's presidency) starring Joan Crawford (as Peggy Eaton), Robert Taylor, Lionel Barrymore (as President Andrew Jackson), Franchot Tone, Melvyn Douglas, James Stewart (Jimmy Stewart; 6th billed and very early in his career!), Beulah Bondi (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film; as Rachel Jackson, the President's wife), Louis Calhern, Sidney Toler (as Daniel Webster), and Ward Bond NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have only auctioned one in all our years of auctioning and that was in 2015 (and now that very same poster has been reconsigned to us for this auction, so it is still the only example we have ever auctioned!). Note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: fair to good. The poster has paper loss at the right end of the top fold that extends into the image. It also was separated in the right 3" of each horizontal fold, and there was a second horizontal fold 1/2" under each of the regular ones. It had a 4" diagonal tear running from the top of the "Y" of "TAYLOR" to the middle horizontal fold. It had a 2" tear in the left border into the middle of the "C" of "CRAWFORD". It had two tears at the right end of the bottom horizontal fold. Someone long ago put paper tape and clear tape on the back of these areas, and some of the tape has long ago fallen off. It has some brown dot stains in the bottom blank border, and a few brown dot stains in the bottom of the image. It has some smudges, scuffs, and small tears around the edges and a 4" crease at top center, running into Taylor's forehead. These are the sort of defects that respond well to expert restoration. After being paperbacked by a talented professional, the poster will look fantastic, and it will not require a lot of paint restoration within the image. But please bear in mind the expensive restoration before placing a bid on this extremely rare poster. Learn More about condition grades
