Date Sold 5/13/2018Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. a lot of 8 postcards from Amos 'n' Andy, the famous 1928-1943 comedy radio show (about two African American best friends and their families), starring Charles Correll (as "Andy") and Freeman F. Gosden (as "Amos"). Note that in 1930, there was a movie based on the radio show, with Correll and Gosden playing the lead roles in blackface, and that the radio show switched to television in 1943 and ran until 1955, with black actors playing the parts. The radio show is extremely controversial, both because white actors did the voices for the black characters, and also because some people think the show was condescending towards black African Americans, while others find the show to be consistent with its time and funny. Note that the items in this lot are from the 1930s. We do not provide a list of these items, but there are images of the front and back of all of them. Measurements: 3 1/4' x 5 1/4"Condition: good.
