An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Italian Two-Panel Movie Poster (measures approximately 55" x 78") (Learn More)

Tsubaki Sanjuro (released in the U.S. in 1963 as "Akira Kurosawa's Sanjuro"), the 1962 Akira Kurosawa Japanese samurai martial arts action adventure thriller sequel ("A fast sword, keen perception used well to Slaughter His Enemies"; "Toho Production in TohoScope") starring Toshiro Mifune (in the title role as Sanjuro Tsubaki), Tatsuya Nakadai, Takashi Shimura, Reiko Dan, Keiju Kobayashi, Yuzo Kayama, and Akihiko Hirata. Note that this movie was a sort of sequel to Kurosawa's 1961 movie, "Yojimbo", with Mifune again playing a ronin, but with a different name (and again, he is a somewhat tarnished hero). Also note that this well regarded Akira Kurosawa Japanese movie surprisingly only received a limited first release in the U.S., and movie paper from that U.S. release is incredibly rare, for unknown reasons. It also apparently had a limited first release in all other English-speaking countries, again for unknown reasons.

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this Italian two-panel poster was printed in 2 sections (designed to overlap) and when combined, the poster measures approximately 55" x 78" and is currently folded, and fits in our standard mailers.

Condition: good. the top panel has darkened and is quite fragile. The bottom panel has not darkened and is not fragile. Other than the above defect, the poster is in quite nice condition. The person who consigned the poster had two examples of this poster in identical condition, and he tells me that he had the other example linenbacked, and that the restorer was able to improve the appearance of the darkened panel through chemical means, and that now the poster matches well and looks fantastic!

This item is in "lesser" condition (what many dealers would describe as "good" or "good to very good", or in the case of items with major defects, which should be easily seen on our large images, "fair")! It has clear defects, which are likely to be very noticeable in our "large" or "super-sized" images that you can click on from our small image at right (although some of the defects may not be so easily seen in the images). Therefore, in addition to the images, we have also noted in words what these defects are in our "Description of Defects" section above. We know that some collectors could accept this item's defects, and display it as is, and we also know that many collectors would only be happy with this item if they had it restored, so please do not bid on it unless you can accept it as it is, or are willing to pay to have it properly restored. Of course, you should realize that if you do not bid on this item because of its condition defects, it may be quite some time before you see this item offered again!
