Your father brought his sweetheart here and married her. Your eight red-headed uncles fell in love on Spencer's Mountain. This is your place, Clayboy, and this is your time..."; "This was the summer of Claris. This was the summer the whole raucous, rollicking Spencer clan would never forget."; "The bursting-with-life best-seller is on the screen."; "The bursting-with-life best-seller about the raucous, rollicking Spencer clan overflows joyously onto the screen."; "A boy... a girl... on 'Spencer's Mountain'"; "If you were a real Spencer, you just naturally did your growing up on Spencer's Mountain."; "This summer everyone's going to Spencer's Mountain [we mean the movie, of course!]"; "Based on the novel by Earl Hamner. Jr."; "These here are Spencers and this here is a picture about'em and these here and this here is just about the most wonderful movie you ever saw! It's mostly about the big boy on the right, and the summer he found a girl on Spencer's Mountain.") starring Henry Fonda, Maureen O'Hara, James MacArthur (as Clayboy Spencer), Donald Crisp, Wally Cox, Mimsy Farmer (billed as "Introducing Mimsy Farmer"), and Victor French. Note that writer Hamner a few years later turned this into a TV series (just slightly changing the names, but basically keeping the bulk of the plot, which was his growing up in rural America) and had one of the greatest TV hits ever, "The Waltons". NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that these stills appear in every way to be original U.S. release EXCEPT that there is one very tiny line of French type in the lower right of each still. It reads, "IMPRIME AUX ETATS-UNIS D'AMERIQUE". A collector has told us that he believes this means the stills were printed for use in areas that included French-speaking parts of Canada, but that they WERE printed in the U.S., and that makes complete sense to us (and we have seen this on stills from the 1940s through the early 2000s, so it has certainly been done for an extremely long time)! So they are original stills from 1963, but they were printed partially for use in French-speaking Canada. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
