An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Bermuda Mystery, the 1944 Benjamin Stoloff Caribbean romantic love triangle murder mystery crime comedy ("From the story by John Larkin"; about an engaged private detective, who, through no choice of his own, gets mixed up with the ditzy possible heir to a fortune!) starring Preston Foster, Ann Rutherford, Charles Butterworth, Helene Reynolds, Jean Howard, and Richard Lane. Note that this movie dealt with a "tontine", which is something that was once explored in literature, the idea of a group of rich people putting up either all their money or a lot of money, and the last person to survive inherits everything, which naturally is an invitation to murder! Also, note that 20th Century-Fox intended this as a lighthearted comedy mystery melodrama, and wanted it to be the first of a series, a sort of "Thin Man" type of series, with Foster and Rutherford, but apparently, this first entry did not do well, so it is the only one that was made.
