NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Bob McCall Important Added Info: Note that this is a special 11 1/4" x 25 3/4" standee (which was created on a stiff board) that was made for use in theaters showing this movie during its initial Cinerama release. We previously auctioned a similar standee that was used at the world premiere of this Cinerama movie at the Uptown Theatre in Washington, D.C., and that one sold for $5,250. That standee had a large snipe glued over the top tagline area and a large rectangular snipe glued in the bottom left corner (both referenced the world premiere). While it of course is very nice and cool that the other standee was actually used at the world premiere, this standee, because it does not have the snipes, lets you see the top tagline and the full art! Condition: good to very good. The standee was never used, because the backings were never bent, which is a nice plus. There is a fine slightly diagonal scuff line starting in the top border between the "t" and "e" of "greatest", and extending down to the bottom border through the space ship. There is a tiny area of surface paper loss near the center of the top blank border and in the bottom left blank corner. There are creases in the top right corner that slightly enter the edge of the background and tiny creases in the bottom right corner. Certainly, this poster can be displayed as it is, or one might choose to have restoration performed, surely without backing it. Learn More about condition grades
