An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 10 1/2" x 16" [27 x 41 cm]; 10 pages). Also included is a herald that has 4 pages. (Learn More) Big Killing, the 1928 F. Richard Jones silent hillbilly backwoods family feud screwball comedy ("The Greatest Sharpshooters since the Beginning of Time"; "Story by Grover Jones"; about two feuding hillbilly families and one hires what they think are two expert marksmen to kill off the other family, but it turns out they aren't at all what they seem!) starring Wallace Beery, Raymond Hatton, Mary Brian, Lane Chandler, and Anders Randolf. Note that in 1926, Wallace Beery and Raymond Hatton appeared in "Behind the Front", and the public loved the comic antics of this very large man with this very small man, and they went on to make a series of similar movies, including this one. They were so popular that there was also an imitation series of similar movies starring Karl Dane and George K. Arthur! Also, note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that when studios would prepare pressbooks they would often include a sample of the herald. Most often, the herald is no longer still with the pressbook. Sometimes, the herald by itself will sell for almost as much as the rest of the entire pressbook! This pressbook contains the original herald that was included with it, and it is pictured next to the pressbook below. Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook, and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: poor to fair, NO CUTS. The pressbook is complete and uncut. However, the pages are extremely fragile and there are tears and areas of paper loss around the edges. Someone put some clear tape on the spine and around the edges of the covers. However, there is a 4-page herald included that is in surprisingly nice condition (see our images).
