An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Silver Cord, the 1933 John Cromwell family relationship romantic melodrama ("Jealous of her son's love for his wife.. this sainted mother found a way to make them hate each other"; "A tempestuous story that rips the mask of hypocrisy from son-devouring mother love"; "Based upon the play by Sidney Howard as produced by The Theatre Guild Inc."; produced by Merian C. Cooper; a wild story of a rich widow who has two adult sons, and both of them get involved with women, and the mother does all she can to break up the romances, so she can "keep" her sons to herself!) starring Irene Dunne, Joel McCrea, Frances Dee, Eric Linden, and Laura Hope Crews. Note that it was this movie where co-stars Joel McCrea and Frances Dee met and fell in love. Unlike the vast majority of Hollywood marriages, this one lasted, ending only on his passing, which sadly was on the day of their 57th wedding anniversary. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that first release 1933 movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single movie paper item from this movie, except for a single pressbook, until we received this lobby card! Also note that there is a stamp on the back that reads "FROM THE COLLECTION OF Michael R. Hawks", who most would consider the premier lobby card collector and expert in the world (and he is still an active collector, looking for the last few items he needs!). Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: fine. Note that this lobby card is in excellent condition and is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back of the card! The new owner of this card will find it hard to believe that the card was not recently created, but we assure you it is 100% original from 1933, even though it has survived so amazingly well!
