An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Stepin Fetchit (born Lincoln Theodore Monroe Andrew Perry) was a black African American actor from the 1920s to the 1970s. Because of the prejudices of the time, he was forced to primarily take stereotyped roles, and act in ways that reinforced unfortunate black stereotypes, and his name has become synonymous with roles of this nature. In 1929, he scandalized some people when he not only married a 17 year old high school girl, but she was white, to boot! Some of his movies include: The Prodigal, Carolina, Harlem Follies of 1949, Zenobia, and Steamboat Round the Bend. He had a stage act in the very early 1960s called "Stepin Fetchit in Person", where he performed "The Harlem Carioca", and during that time, he became good friends with Muhammad Ali, and spent time at his training camps! He passed away in 1985 at the age of 83. Condition: very good to fine. Learn More about condition grades
