eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 8x001 LOT OF 12 SOME LIKE IT HOT PROMO POSTCARDS '59 ultra rare Monroe item sent to theaters! Date Sold 7/19/2015Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. a lot of 12 promo postcards from Some Like It Hot, the classic 1959 Billy Wilder (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award) romantic musical cross-dressing "drag" crime comedy starring Marilyn Monroe ("and her bosom companions"), Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon (in his nominated for Best Actor Academy Award role), George Raft, Pat O'Brien, and Joe E. Brown. Note that this is a really wonderful promotional item we have never seen before. It has a printed envelope that has "HOT! 12 beautiful picture post card poses by America's most beautiful girl for your private contemplation and delectation. WARNING: Highly volatile and may burst into flame!". Inside the folder is a special 7" x 7" two-sided promo, which was folded in half so that it could have the "postcards" inside of it. The "postcards" measure 3 1/2" x 5". We put postcard in quotes because, while they are on a heavy postcard-like stock, they are blank on the back. Each has a different sexy image of Marilyn with her ukulele. The promo has information printed on it and it includes the fact that "the art studies herein are from a set by world-famous photographer Richard Avedon". This was a special promo item sent to theaters to get them to book this movie, and surely next to none of these survive! Measurements: 4" x 7 1/2"Condition: very good. A few of the postcards have tiny brown stains in the edges of the blank borders. One of them has them in the bottom left of the image. Otherwise, they are in wonderful condition. The promo is in excellent condition and the printed envelope was cut open at the top but is otherwise in good condition. Learn More about condition grades Titles included:
