An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) The Ivory-Handled Gun, the 1935 Ray Taylor cowboy western starring Buck Jones, Charlotte Wynters, Walter Miller, Carl Stockdale, Frank Rice, Eddie Phillips, and Charles King. Note that Buck Jones' white horse was named Silver (just like The Lone Ranger's later on!), and Silver made 73 movies with Buck Jones from 1922 until Jones' death in 1942 in the tragic Cocoanut Grove fire. But oddly, Silver was almost never billed on the posters for Buck Jones' movies as so many other famous horses (most especially Tom Mix's Tony) were! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the restorer did a good job, but you can see signs of the restoration from inches away (since most people look at posters framed on a wall from at least a few feet away, we don't feel this is a defect, but we feel it should be noted). OR you can't see the restoration because it was so well done, but the poster had fairly significant defects. OR no restoration was performed, but the defects are not major, and restoration could be done to the poster without re-backing it. See below for its pre-restoration defects (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). Poster had tape down the back of the entire vertical foldline, and removing it resulted in discoloration and small areas of paper loss down the vertical fold approximately 1" wide. There were also fairly large areas of paper loss at each crossfold. The poster also had creases and some tears on the other foldlines. It had minor smudges and creases, as well as some border defects, including pinholes in the corners. The poster is very well linenbacked, and the person who did the linenbacking (almost surely Igor Edelman) did an excellent job hiding the defects on the vertical foldline and the other lesser defects, which are now not very noticeable.
