Appears in John Wayne Movie Posters at Auction CATALOG SOLD OUT The image at right appears in the auction catalog we published as shown above and was sold long ago and we do NOT have it available for purchase. An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) The New Frontier, the 1935 Carl Pierson Oklahoma pioneer cowboy western (from the story by Robert Emmett Tansey; about a man and his son who lead settlers to Oklahoma in the 1880s, when the government gave free land to settlers, and the man becomes sheriff of a town while his son is bringing in more settlers, and when the son returns, he discovers his father has been killed by outlaws, and he becomes the new sheriff, and he manages to tame the town by making an alliance with a different group of outlaws, who help him!) starring John Wayne, Muriel Evans, Warner P. Richmond, Al Bridge, Sam Flint, Murdock MacQuarrie, and Allan Cavan. Note that John Wayne appeared in a movie called "The New Frontier" in 1939, but that was a Three Mesquiteers movie, and it has no connection to this movie, other than the title. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and the restorer did a good job, but you can see signs of the restoration from inches away (since most people look at posters framed on a wall from at least a few feet away, we don't feel this is a defect, but we feel it should be noted). See below for this poster's pre-restoration condition (we are the only major auction company we know of that shares this information with our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). very good. The poster had small holes at the crossfolds, creases along the folds, and creases, small tears, and some very tiny paper loss around the edges of the poster. The person who linenbacked it mounted it on to a very thin linen and did not leave any excess linen around the edges. They also tried to color in the small paper loss at the top crossfold, but did not make a very good match. This poster is an ideal candidate for re-linenbacking! If the poster was re-backed, the restorer can surely make the poster's minor defects less noticeable (it really looks nice just as it is), and this great poster would look wonderful, and there would be truly little paint anywhere on it!
