An Undated (surely from between 1935 and 1939) Re-release Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Trail Beyond (also released as "Wolf Hunters"), the 1934 Robert N. Bradbury (billed as "R.N. Bradbury") cowboy western ("Adapted from the James Oliver Curwood Novel 'The Wolf Hunters'") starring John Wayne, Verna Hillie, Noah Beery Sr., Noah Beery Jr., Robert Frazer, Iris Lancaster, and James A. Marcus. Note that this was one of the five movies where father and son Noah Beery Sr. and Jr. appeared together between 1930 and 1942! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that lobby cards from 1930s John Wayne Lone Star westerns are extremely rare (in some cases almost as rare as the posters, which is very unusual for any 1930s movies!). Perhaps next-to-no theaters ordered lobby cards for these B-western movies. Only a very few lobby cards that solely list Lone Star have ever surfaced, and some of those are 1940s re-releases, but some of them seem to surely be from the original 1934 release. In 1935, Monogram acquired the rights to these earlier John Wayne Lone Star westerns and re-released them somewhere between 1935 and 1939, but no one I am aware of has been able to date them any more closely. These "Monogram" lobby cards have both Lone Star and Monogram on them, and they are also incredibly rare! Condition: fair to good. The card has a pencil mark running from the left of Wayne's face through his eyebrow and hat (see our image). There is a thumb tack hole and surface paper loss in the top of his shoulder. There is a diagonal crease down the left of the card, running down the left of Beery's cheek, missing his features, except for the edge of his eyebrow. There is surface paper loss in the top left corner, slightly entering the image, and some stains and tiny surface paper loss around the edges, with tack holes in two corners. Obviously, this card has really significant defects, but it is also very true that a talented restorer can surely greatly improve the appearance of the card, and if it is done right, it will display really well. But bear this in mind before placing a bid on this extremely rare lobby card. Learn More about condition grades
