An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Frankenstein, the classic 1931 James Whale Universal monster horror thriller ("The monster that terrorized the world!"; "The Man Who Made a Monster"; "Warning! The monster is loose!"; "Based upon the Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley Story"; "Adapted by John L. Balderston from the play by Peggy Webling"; the first of the Universal "Frankenstein" movies, and regarded as one of the finer movies of any genre, in large part due to the marvelous acting of Boris Karloff, and the marvelous direction of James Whale!) starring Colin Clive (as Dr. Herbert V. Frankenstein), Boris Karloff (as the Frankenstein monster), Edward Van Sloan, Fredric Kerr, Mae Clarke, Dwight Frye (extremely memorable as Fritz), and John Boles NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that in January of 2011, we were sent a group of lobby cards that were literally "found in a barn". The best of these was this great scene card from "Frankenstein". All of the cards had major condition defects, and we provided scans of the cards that clearly showed those defects. The person who purchased this card at that January 2011 auction sent it to Poster Mountain, with the instructions to do "minimal" restoration to the card, and they did so. You can see a scan of the front and back of the card before it was restored at this link: http://www.emovieposter.com/gallery/inc/archive_image.php?id=14525919, and of course, you can see our super-sized image of the card AFTER restoration by clicking on the link on this page. Condition: good. Prior to paperbacking, the card had the defects seen at this link: http://www.emovieposter.com/gallery/inc/archive_image.php?id=14525919, which included an uneven vertical tear at top center, paper loss in the borders, darkening, and stains scattered throughout the card, plus the other defects seen in the image at the link provided above. As stated above, the card was sent to Poster Mountain, with the instructions to do "minimal" restoration to the card, and they did so (and they "gel backed" the card, so that the card still completely looks and feels exactly like an unrestored lobby card, and you can clearly see where the restoration was performed on the back of the card). They did a really wonderful job in my estimation. You can clearly see that this is an 82 year-old lobby card and that it had clear defects, but it will be displayed and enjoyed as it is by the new owner. Of course, one would prefer to find an unrestored excellent example of this card, but such cards are unbelievably rare, and they sell for veritable fortunes the rare times they are offered for sale!
