Artist: Philip Castle Important Added Info: Note that by 1972, many U.S. theaters were no longer displaying three-sheets and six-sheets, but many non-U.S. theaters still did. The studios would make some three-sheets and six-sheets that were stamped "DOM" (or "DOMESTIC") which means they were printed for use within the United States (and they had ratings on them), and they also made other three-sheets and six-sheets that were stamped "FOR" (or "FOREIGN") for use outside the United States (and they had no ratings). Most of the surviving three-sheets and six-sheets from the 1970s are the ones for use outside the U.S. By 1977, it seems that they pretty much stopped printing ones with ratings (for example, on Star Wars, ALL three-sheets and six-sheets have "FOREIGN" stamped on the back). Just a few years later, in the early 1980s, they stopped printing three-sheets and six-sheets altogether. This movie (A CLOCKWORK ORANGE) is like many others of this time in that, before being consigned this three-sheet, all examples of the three-sheet we had been consigned had no ratings and were for use outside the U.S., and we did not think that "domestic" posters with ratings had been made for this movie. BUT THIS POSTER DOES HAVE THE X RATING, AND IT IS STAMPED "DOM" ON THE BACK! So it is the very first three-sheet we have ever auctioned that has the rating on it (and of course, the movie was soon changed to an "R" rating, and new posters were printed, and collectors have always put a premium on the X-rated versions of the one-sheet, so that makes this three-sheet all the more interesting, given that it, too, has an "X" rating). Also note that this three-sheet was printed in 1 section. Condition: very good. The poster has a small dot stain in the lower right corner and a few creases scattered throughout, more so on the folds. Otherwise, it is in nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
