A Framed Original Vintage Special Movie Poster (poster measures 30" x 40" [76 x 102 cm]; entire frame measures 35" x 45") (Learn More)

The Last of Mrs. Cheyney, the 1929 Sidney Franklin romantic love triangle crime comedy ("All talking"; based on the play by Frederick Lonsdale; about an American widow in England, who is pursued by two rich Englishmen, but they are unaware she is actually a jewel thief!) starring Norma Shearer, (in the title role as Fay Cheyney), Basil Rathbone (in his seventh credited movie role!), Herbert Bunston, George Barraud, Hedda Hopper, Moon Carroll, Madeline Seymour, and Maude Turner Gordon. Note that this movie was remade in 1937 starring Joan Crawford, and this first version is completely forgotten today, except by major film buffs, and movie paper of any kind from it is incredibly rare!

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned two window cards and three stills from this movie (and NO other movie paper of any kind) until we received this special 30x40 poster! This poster would have been created by a regional company that made photographic blow-ups like this for theaters. Theaters that ordered them would have a special frame the correct size, and then change out the poster when they ordered a new one. This auction is for both the poster and the frame, and both were surely created in 1929 when this poster was displayed!

Our consignor had this poster in its original frame (see above), and he sent it to us that way. The winning bidder can have the poster shipped together with its frame in a very large flat package, or if they don't want the frame, we will ship the poster by itself, but it will still be a very large flat package, only slightly smaller (that will be the choice of the high bidder). We have provided an image of the poster in and out of the frame.

Condition: good. As noted above, the poster was created on a heavy board, and there are small areas of paper loss around the edges of the board and a 10" horizontal crack near the top center of the board. The frame is in pretty good condition. If the poster is replaced into the frame, it will help cover its border defects quite a bit, but bear all of the above in mind and look at our super-sized images (and also consider the added expense of shipping it in a very large flat package) before bidding on this one of a kind item!
