An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Australian Daybill Movie Poster (db; measures 14 1/4" x 40" [36 x 102 cm]) (Learn More) Knockout Reilly, the 1927 Malcolm St. Clair silent boxing sports romantic love triangle prison melodrama ("From the story 'The Hunch' by Albert Payson Terhune", who was the author of the "Lassie" stories; a steel worker saves a girl in a bar fight by knocking out the man coming on to her, and it turns out the man was a boxer named "Killer"; he becomes a boxer, but is then arrested for a crime he didn't commit, but while in prison, he stays in training, and when he gets out, he fights "Killer"; he is losing, but his girl tells him that "Killer" framed him, which gives him the drive to knock his opponent out in the final round!) starring Richard Dix (in the title role as Dundee 'Knockout' Reilly), Mary Brian, Jack Renault (a real-life Canadian heavyweight boxer, who appears in the movie in fight scenes with Dix!), Harry Gribbon, and Osgood Perkins. Note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Richardson Studio Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this Australian daybill, and that was 6 years ago! The buyer of that poster has now reconsigned it to us, so this is still the only example of this poster we have ever auctioned! Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good to very good. The poster has discoloration in the center lower blank border and at upper center. There is some slight discoloration on back of the right half and along portions of the lower horizontal fold, but they are not as noticeable on the front. The poster was once folded horizontally many times, and there are many horizontal folds scattered in the poster. It has some tears around the edges, with tiny paper loss in the right of the top border. There are some smudges and scuffs scattered throughout the poster. It is otherwise "all there" and after linenbacking with some proper restoration (at which time it is likely that many or most of the stains can be removed through chemical means) it would display quite well.
