This vintage photo of a young Bette Davis was signed in 1988 during a tour by the actress to promote her memoir, "This and That." This is a 1988 autograph on a 1930s vintage photo and certified by a Bette Davis signature expert to be 100% genuine. The signature card, which is dated April 25, 1949, is from the estate of famed NEW YORK DAILY NEWS photographer, Harry Warnecke (1900-1984), best known for his innovations in the art of color photography and printing. From the 1930s through the 1960s, Warnecke photographed thousands of celebrities, including some of the greatest names of the 20th century, e.g., Bette Davis, Cary Grant, Clark Gable, Humphrey Bogart, James Stewart, Jackie Robinson, Orson Welles, Julie Andrews, Ronald Reagan, Winston Churchill, Lucille Ball, Anne Bancroft and Marilyn Monroe. Throughout his career, Warnecke obtained signed cards from the celebrities he photographed, almost always at festive openings and world premieres. He then meticulously labeled and dated each card using a manual typewriter. After his death in 1984, Warnecke's collection of celebrity-signed indexed cards was inherited by his only surviving relative, his niece, Carol Mitchell. This autograph was purchased in 2005 from Noah and Carol Mitchell of Bedford Hills, New York. This signature is 100% genuine and authentic. More information about Mr. Warnecke is available at http://www.tfaoi.com/aa/4aa/4aa334.htm or http://tinyurl.com/55prrd. The two items were professionally framed together in a 12" x 16" frame. Condition: very good. The vintage still has some minor creases and handling wear (slightly visible through the glass). The index card is in nice condition and the overall display looks great!
