An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Three-Sheet Movie Poster (3sh; measures 41" x 81" [104 x 206 cm]) (Learn More) Randy Rides Alone, the 1934 Harry Fraser cowboy western (from the story by Lindsley Parsons; the movie has Wayne as an undercover investigator sent to find a gang of outlaws, but he goes to a hideout they supposedly were staying in, and he finds many dead bodies, at which point the local sheriff shows up and arrests him for those murders!) starring John Wayne (in the title role as Randy Bowers), Alberta Vaughn, George 'Gabby' Hayes, Yakima Canutt, and Earl Dwire NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a single lobby card and a glass slide from this movie (and NO other movie paper of any kind) until we received this three-sheet! And John Wayne three-sheets (or six-sheets) from before 1935 are beyond rare! We have only ever auctioned one John Wayne three-sheet and one six-sheet from before 1935, and both of those were from 1934, as this poster is, but those posters had generic looking cowboys on them, while this poster very clearly shows young John Wayne large at the top of the poster (and with his back to you on horseback at the bottom). It may be many years before we auction another pre-1935 John Wayne larger poster, and there is no saying that even if we do, that it would have a good cowboy image of Wayne! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had tears and small areas of paper loss on parts of the folds and some of the tears had tape on the back. It had some pinholes, tears, and paper loss around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Note that the restorer left a tiny bit of excess linen around all four sides of the poster (they left a small border in order to protect the poster from handling damage, but they did not leave a larger border, to allow it to more easily fit in a frame).
