An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) The Oyster Dredger, the 1915 Lon Chaney silent romantic melodrama short ("Produced in TWO ACTS") starring J. Warren Kerrigan, Vera Sisson, Lon Chaney, and William Quinn. Note that most people have a view of Lon Chaney Sr. as having been a bit actor in minor roles for many years before receiving his major break in horror classics in the late 1910s. Yet, this clearly was not accurate, for as early as 1915, he was producing and directing short subjects for Universal such as this one (note that he received a prominent credit on the poster). The poster had a V-shaped tear in the top of the inset circular image, in the sky background. There were tiny holes at the crossfold and some tiny surface paper loss in just a few places on the top and bottom foldlines. There was an extra thin strip of paper glued to the left edge of the left blank border. Overall, the poster was in very good to fine condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was well backed. The restorer simply backed it "as is", and the defects it has are so minor, that I can well see why the restorer wanted to leave this poster in excellent unrestored condition!
