An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

The General, the classic 1927 Buster Keaton & Clyde Bruckman silent Civil War military railroad train locomotive romantic slapstick comedy (Buster is an engineer who is refused by the Army because he is needed for the war effort, and then his girl is kidnapped by enemy soldiers, and most of the movie is spent with one train chasing another train, but amazingly, it never gets tired, and the movie has more laughs per minute than almost any comedy ever made!) starring Buster Keaton, Marion Mack, Charles Smith, Richard Allen, Glen Cavender, Jim Farley, and the train (in the title role, because it is named "The General", and it plays a really major part in the movie!)

Artist: Hap Hadley
Important Added Info: Note that first release 1927 movie paper from this Buster Keaton movie is incredibly rare. We have been lucky enough to have auctioned a few wonderful posters from this most classic movie, but we have NEVER before auctioned even a single lobby card from this movie until we received this lobby card! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.

Condition: good to very good. The card had darkened somewhat. It had a rectangular area of paper loss in the left of the bottom blank border, measuring approximately 1/2" x 3", but only blank white paper was affected. There were a few tiny pinholes around the edges of the card, with two in the "BU" of "BUSTER" at lower left. There was paper loss left border extending into the edge of Keaton's hat, with a tear extending into the center of the top of the hat. There was a pinhole in the upper right sky area. There was a crease in the top of the "ATO" of "KEATON". Other than the above, the card was in pretty nice condition. A very talented restorer paperbacked the back of the bottom 1 1/2" of the card, and also the back of the paper loss in the upper left border, and then performed expert restoration to the front of those areas and also performed slight restoration to the pinholes and other slight defects described above (perhaps by gel backing the card). So only the two areas described above have paperbacking on the reverse. Otherwise, the card looks and feels exactly like it did before it was restored, and it displays fantastically (see our images).
