An Original Gouache Maquette (measures 11 1/4" x 15 1/2" [29 x 39 cm]) (Learn More) Toby (slang for tobacco), the circa 1910s German gouache maquette artwork featuring text advertising Toby cigarettes for 3 pfennigs (former German currency), and an art deco image of a man in a hat smoking a cigarette in a long holder. This is the actual original art for this poster (the art from which the poster was created)! Unfortunately, we don't know the name of the artist who drew this. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Important Added Info: Note that this original artwork was created on a fairly heavyweight paper stock. It conceivably could be rolled, but that could certainly damage it, so we will send it to the winning bidder in a flat package. Condition: good to very good. The artwork has scuffs scattered in the solid black areas and some in the art and in the blue border. There is some darkening in the white borders where the art was attached to a mat (there are eight pieces of tape on the back of the borders of the art where it was attached to the mat).
