An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card #6 (11x14; LC; measures 11" x 14") (Learn More) Big Jim McLain (released in Europe as "Marihuana"), the 1952 Edward Ludwig Hawaii anti-Communist melodrama ("The big man in his big adventure!"; "He's a Go-Get-'Em Guy for the U.S.A. on a Treason-Trail that leads Half-a-World Away!"; "Filmed in Hawaii and filled with excitement!"; "Uncle Sam said 'Go Get 'Em!' ...and Big Jim was the man they sent!"; note that this movie features quotes from The Devil and Daniel Webster by Stephen Vincent Benet; a somewhat laughable "let's root out all the Commies" movie that was very sad for the real life people whose lives were ruined at the time) starring John Wayne ("The Big Man In His Big Adventure!"; in the title role), Nancy Olson, James Arness, Veda Ann Borg, Alan Napier, and Vernon 'Red' McQueen. Note that there was not any of the anti-Communist hysteria that swept the U.S. at the time this movie was made in Europe, so when the movie was released there, it was drastically rearranged and through the clever use of subtitles, it was made to seem as if John Wayne was hunting drug smugglers and not Commies, and the movie was titled "Marihuana" for those releases, and it seems really funny to have John Wayne and marijuana together!
