An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked style C One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Rose Marie, the classic 1936 W.S. Van Dyke Royal Canadian Mounted Police Mountie romantic northern-western musical ("Singing sweethearts back again!") starring Jeanette MacDonald (in the title role as Rose Marie), Nelson Eddy, Reginald Owen, Allan Jones, James Stewart (in his second credited role!), Alan Mowbray, and Gilda Gray NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and the restorer did a good job, but you can see signs of the restoration from inches away (since most people look at posters framed on a wall from at least a few feet away, we don't feel this is a defect, but we feel it should be noted). See below for this poster's pre-restoration condition (we are the only major auction company we know of that shares this information with our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). good to very good. The poster had an extra vertical foldline 1/2" to the right of the regular foldline and there were many creases in the area between the two foldlines. There were extra creases across the horizontal foldlines. There were pinholes, tears, and areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster. There was a thin strip of paper loss in the right end of the middle foldline (in the white background area only). There were several small areas of paper loss in the white background area between the letters of the title. In spite of the many small areas of paper loss, virtually none were in actual artwork areas, so there was little actual paper loss anywhere in the image. The poster was restored by Studio C and it was really a first-rate job! You can see signs of the fold restoration from close up, but from any distance away the poster really looks great!
