NIGHT CLUB LADY 6sh

Appears in Hershenson Pressbook Collection

The image at right is provided for reference purposes and we do not we have it available for purchase, nor do we know of anyone who does!

The Night Club Lady, the 1932 Irving Cummings New York detective crime mystery thriller (based on the novel by Fulton Oursler, under the pseudonym "Anthony Abbot") starring Adolphe Menjou (as Thatcher Colt), Mayo Methot (in the title role), Richard 'Skeets' Gallagher, Ruthelma Stevens, and Blanche Frederici. Note that this movie was apparently quite entertaining, and it led to a sequel, "The Circus Queen Murder", which also starred Menjou as Thatcher Colt, and it seemed that this character could have gone onto a successful series like Philo Vance or The Thin Man, but for unknown reasons, the series was abandoned after the two entries. A knowledgeable collector tells us that (unfortunately!) there are no good copies of this film remaining, only "gray-market" versions of poor quality. The sequel does have a restored version which was shown at an event celebrating Columbia's 75th anniversary.
