Date Sold 10/28/2021Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Folded Dutch World War II Poster (measures 32 3/4" x 46 1/2" [83 x 118 cm]) (Learn More) Winterhulp (literally translates to "Winter Help") was the common name of the Netherlands Winter Aid Foundation (WHW). It was a National Socialist organization founded in 1940, and during World War II (WWII), it took over all social assistance provided by the government, private and church organizations in the Netherlands. It's goal was "to provide help and support to the needy Dutch nationals living in the Nazi occupied Dutch territory without regard to persons" (except for Jews who stopped receiving support shortly after the program started). If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster measures 32 3/4" x 46 1/2", and it was completely folded at one time, but it has been mostly unfolded (solely folded in half) for a long time. We can completely re-fold the poster (which will not harm it) and send it in a small flat package, or we could roll it in a tube while it is folded in half, so it would need to be sent in a tube that measures approximately 25" long. How we send it will depend on what the winning bidder wants, and whether they have flat or rolled items to combine it with. Note that this is one of a remarkable collection of 14 posters that were printed in Holland during World War II while they were occupied by Nazi Germany. They are all propaganda posters designed to sway the Dutch people to support the Nazis and fear the Allies. These posters are surely incredibly rare (since any surviving ones would have likely been destroyed soon after Holland was liberated, and in addition, there were huge paper shortages at this time. We are auctioning the 14 posters in 14 separate auctions. This is an extremely rare opportunity to purchase one or more of these extremely rare posters, which likely should be displayed in museums. Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: very good. The poster has tiny paper loss at some crossfolds and separation at the ends of some folds (repaired with tape from the back). Otherwise, the poster is in pretty nice condition!
