This year's No. 1 motion picture."; "screenplay by Wendell Mayes from the best-seller by Robert Traver"; "Music by Duke Ellington"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring James Stewart (Jimmy Stewart; nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Lee Remick (in her fourth movie role!), Ben Gazzara, Arthur O'Connell (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), Eve Arden, Kathryn Grant, George C. Scott (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), Orson Bean, Russ Brown, Brooks West, Murray Hamilton, Joseph N. Welch ("as Judge Weaver"), Duke Ellington (who did the music for this film and played the piano with Stewart in an uncredited role), and Brooks West NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Saul Bass Important Added Info: Note that this style A insert has three great advantages over the style B insert (this is one of the rare posters where there were two different inserts). The first advantage is that the style B poster is entirely black & white, while this poster has yellow behind the classic Saul Bass art, which makes it stand out wonderfully. The second is that the style B has an odd "blurred" close up image of Lee Remick, with a bland tagline, while this poster has a full-length photo of Remick with headshots of Gazzarra and Stewart, and a great racy quote from Stewart at the top of the poster. Finally, this poster is FAR more rare than the style B insert (we have only auctioned this poster once before, and that was 11 years ago)! Note that this poster has never been folded! Some pre-1970 insert posters were folded twice horizontally at the poster exchange, while some were not. It can be difficult to find an unfolded example of many pre-1970 insert posters (note that most post-1970 inserts were NOT folded, so they are pretty much only found unfolded, and therefore this does not apply to those inserts). Condition: good. The poster was never folded. It was rolled and handled roughly while it was rolled, resulting in many unevenly spaced light horizontal creases. It also has faint stains and smudges scattered throughout the background areas. It seems likely that the light stains and smudges on this poster may be removable through chemical means, and certainly, after restoration, this great poster will look wonderful on the new owner's wall!
