An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded One-Sheet Movie Poster (SpanUS 1sh; printed in Spanish in the U.S. for Spanish speaking audiences; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Fiddler on the Roof, the 1971 Norman Jewison (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) Jews-in-Russia family relationship religious persecution musical ("on the screen"; "To Life!"; "...a tradition"; "Screenplay by Joseph Stein adapted from this stage play"; "Adapted by Sholom Aleichem stories by special arrangement with Arnold Perl"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Topol (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; as Tevye), Norma Crane (as Golde), Leonard Frey (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film; as Motel), Molly Picon (as Yente), Paul Mann (as Lazar Wolf), Rosalind Harris (as Tzeitel), Michele Marsh (as Hodel), Neva Small (as Chava), Paul Michael Glaser (as Perchik), and Tutte Lemkow (who is the fiddler as seen on the roof in the opening credits!) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this one-sheet was printed in the United States for use at theaters with Spanish speaking audiences (this was done most by MGM, starting in the 1930s, but it was done by the other major studios as well, and often the posters would have the exact same image as the English language poster, except the writing would be in Spanish, and on posters from the 1930s and 1940s there would be an added "Toda en Espanol!", meaning "Entirely in Spanish!", printed within the image). Sometimes posters from the 1960s or later will have the word "SPANISH" printed in the bottom border (or sometimes stamped on the back of the poster). Also note that the poster in this auction is one of several one-sheets we are auctioning in separate auctions that have something unusual about them. It is that all of these one-sheets (which date from 1967 to 1973) were never folded, which is VERY UNUSUAL for pre-1980 posters. They were found together, and you likely could never find another example of these posters that were never folded. We are 100% certain they are authentic one-sheets that were printed between 1967 and 1973!
