An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Style A Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) The Sky's the Limit, the 1943 Edward H. Griffith romantic musical singing-and-dancing comedy ("Here's a thrill, new and gay! It's a dance-filled holiday!"; "Gay with tunes you sing and dance to!"; "Laughter!.. Dancing!.. Romance!.. With a Flying Ace on a holiday from War!"; "-with pilot Fred on five days' leave and a lifetime of fun to pack into it! Romance in the moonlight...dancing in the spotlight...and a flock of tunes to highlight any hit parade!"; "A 'flying tiger' takes a fling at fun...!"; "Here's a thrill, new and gay! It's a dance-filled holiday!"; "You're in for a bender of laughter... when a Zero-wrecker on five days' leave and a lotta lovin' to make up... heads smacko into the dream dish of his life! It'll do you more good than a barrel of vitamin tablets!") starring Fred Astaire, Joan Leslie, Robert Benchley, Robert Ryan, Elizabeth Patterson, Marjorie Gateson, and "Freddie Slack and His Orchestra". Note that this was the last of Fred Astaire's musicals before he announced his retirement! He had been performing on stage with his sister since the age of 5, and he was now 44. But surprisingly, after he opened a series of Fred Astaire dance studios and had some cameo roles, he "un-retired", and did ten more musicals between 1947 and 1957! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has never been machine folded! Some pre-1970 half-sheet posters were machine folded twice horizontally at the poster exchange, while some were not. It can be difficult to find an unfolded example of many pre-1970 half-sheet posters (note that most post-1970 half-sheets were NOT machine folded, so they are pretty much only found unfolded, and therefore this does not apply to those half-sheets). Condition: good. The poster has slightly faded (see our image). It has smudges, creases and some tears of varying lengths around the edges (partially repaired with tape from the back) and some other defects that can be clearly seen in our super-sized image. Please see our super-sized image to get a good sense of the condition of this item prior to placing a bid. Learn More about condition grades
