Avalon, the 1990 Barry Levinson family immigration melodrama ("Three generations of family. They shared a dream called America in a place called Avalon."; "From the Academy Award Winning Director of Rain Man and Good Morning Vietnam.") starring Armin Mueller-Stahl, Elizabeth Perkins, Joan Plowright, Aidan Quinn, Kevin Pollak, Elijah Wood, and Lou Jacobi. Note that director Barry Levinson based this movie on his own childhood memories, but, in an effort to widen the appeal of the movie, the makers of the movie removed all references to his Jewish background!
