An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Style A One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Footlight Serenade, the 1942 Gregory Ratoff New York City romantic love triangle boxing sports Broadway theater stage musical comedy ("Based on a story by Fidel LaBarba & Kenneth Earl"; "Another 20th miracle-musical!"; about a conceited world champion boxer who takes a part in a Broadway show, and who gets involved in a romantic triangle with a beautiful chorus girl) starring John Payne, Betty Grable, Victor Mature, Jane Wyman, James Gleason, Phil Silvers, Cobina Wright, June Lang, and Mantan Moreland NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had paper loss at each crossfold and areas of paper loss across the horizontal foldline. There were tears and tiny areas of paper loss on the other foldlines and there had been tape on the back of much of the vertical foldline. There were creases, smudges, tears, and areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was well backed, and the above defects were well corrected and are generally not very noticeable. However, something happened after backing, and the paper has slightly "bubbled" from the linen in 2" horizontal sections in the lower right border (between Mature's head and the end of the title, and also in the top of the "M" of Mature's credit). A talented restorer can almost certainly repair this defect without re-backing the poster. Overall, the poster displays pretty well, but it has had significant restoration of the above noted defects!
