Each of us is a Cable Hogue. Each of us has a God and a woman... Each of us is Cable Hogue"; "Cable Hogue says... 'Seek... And ye shall find'"; "Cable Hogue carved an empire out of the west... With the kind of guts that could conquer an untamed land."; "Cable Hogue says... 'Do unto others... As you would have others do unto you.'"; "Cable Hogue says... 'Never lose faith... God will provide...'"; "Sam Peckinpah, the outstanding Western filmmaker of our time, tells the story of individuals for whom life is a constant battle for survival. A distinct departure from the notoriously violent 'The Wild Bunch', 'The Ballad of Cable Hogue' is warm, human story about love and within its framework are both comic and sad moments, as well as episodes filled with dramatic action."; "Written by John Crawford & Edmund Penney") starring Jason Robards Jr. (in the title role as Cable Hogue), Stella Stevens, David Warner, Strother Martin, Slim Pickens, L.Q. Jones, Peter Whitney, and R.G. Armstrong NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that these stills measure 8" x 9 1/4" [20 x 23 cm], but they have not been trimmed. Note that this is from a special set of 8 stills called "Story-in-Pictures". This was something that was done in the early 1960s. A set of 8 stills were created that were numbered, and they were designed to be placed in the lobbies of theaters in number order, and each of the stills had a long paragraph on the bottom that basically told you the entire story of the movie. I guess these sets were intended to serve as a kind of written preview of the movie with pictures, but apparently, they were not very popular, since I have only seen a few of them (perhaps the problem was that no one at the studio wanted to take the time to create them!). In any event, I think they are pretty cool, and they are definitely far more rare than the regular stills from the corresponding movies (these were made in ADDITION to the regular stills, not in place of them).
