An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

Hold That Lion!, the 1947 Jules White slapstick comedy short ("The Stooges tangle with a lion... and you get the lion's share of laffs!"; "A Columbia Short-Subject Presentation"; the 100th Three Stooges short from Columbia; in this entry, the Stooges are on the trail of a crooked lawyer, and they follow him onto a sleeper train, and while on the train, they accidentally let a lion loose) starring The Three Stooges (Larry Fine, Moe Howard, Shemp Howard), Kenneth MacDonald, Emil Stika, and Dudley Dickerson. Note that Curly Howard (who had suffered a series of strokes in 1945) had a cameo as a long-haired sleeping man with a clothespin on his nose, which makes this the only short to feature all three brothers (they were intended to be together in 1949's "Malice in the Palace", where Curly had a small part; his scene was filmed, but it was ultimately cut from the movie, so on that short, they did not appear together on film, although oddly, Curly's character does appear on the poster). So this short is the only one where all three brothers were together on film, while "Malice in the Palace" is the only short where all three brothers are together on the poster.

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had an extra horizontal fold just below the regular top one. It had tiny bits of paper loss on parts of some folds, with pinholes around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
