eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result e069 AMERICAN BOY linen special movie poster '10s cool tramp art! Date Sold 10/19/2004Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Special Poster (measures 20" x 27 1/2") (Learn More) An American Boy, this is a circa 1910s stone litho poster. Note that the poster features a cool image of a tramp in ragged clothes in a country field standing by a stone wall looking at a "scarecrow" with a top hat, and it looks as though he is contemplating trading clothes! It would seem most likely that this is from a theatrical stage show rather than from a movie, as there is no reference to movies or filmmaking anywhere on this poster, but we can't say for sure. The only writing on it is "Geo. W. Heath. -Manager-" to the right of the title and "The Forbes Co, Boston, N. York" in the lower right corner. If anyone knows more about this poster or the play it advertises, please e-mail us and we will post it here. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this special poster measures 20" x 27 1/2" and is linenbacked. Condition: good. This poster was linenbacked, but it was either NOT linenbacked by a very talented restorer, OR it was linenbacked many years ago, and has received rough handling over the years, OR it had fairly major defects that were not restorated at all. If it was restored, you can clearly see signs of the restoration even from a distance. This is a poster that would greatly benefit from additional professional restoration. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). There were small tears, creases, smudges, and areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster extending into the edge of the image. The central image area itself is in pretty nice condition. The person who linenbacked the poster did next-to-nothing to attempt to restore it, but I can well imagine many people displaying this just as it is (or of course it could be re-linenbacked).
