An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Belgian Movie Poster (measures 14 1/2" x 18 1/2") (Learn More) The Blue Lagoon, the 1949 Frank Launder English romantic island castaway adventure melodrama ("Alone they braved an untamed paradise!"; "An Individual picture"; "Amid the fury of a hurricane - their love was born!"; "Together they faced the terrifying violence of nature... to find a fortune in pearls hidden deep in the blue lagoon!"; "Man against octopus!... in a hand-to-hand battle to the death!"; "From the novel by H. de Vere Stacpoole"; about two young English children who are shipwrecked on a desert island, and they must fend for themselves, and as they grow up, they naturally fall in love; this is the original movie that the 1980 movie with Brooke Shields was based on) starring Jean Simmons, Donald Houston, Noel Purcell, Cyril Cusack, James Hayter, Susan Stranks (billed as "and introducing Susan Stranks"), and Peter Rudolph Jones (billed as "Peter Jones") NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this Belgian poster measures 14 1/2" x 18 1/2" and is linenbacked. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had very minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were extremely well restored, OR it had some minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster had faint creases along the foldlines. It had creases, smudges, and a few small tears in the borders. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Note that the poster originally had a blank top that was neatly trimmed off (this was often done with Belgian posters, and most collectors consider it a minor defect).
