An Original 1942 (from the first release of this movie in Australia) Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Australian Daybill Movie Poster (db; measures 13 1/2" x 30" [34 x 76 cm]) (Learn More) Among the Living, the 1941 Stuart Heisler identical twins horror crime film noir ("What horrible fascination did this monster have for women?"; from the story by Brian Marlow & Lester Cole; a bizarre story of a pair of identical twins, and one appears to die when he is 10 years old, but actually, he has gone insane, and his father locked him away in a hidden room in their mansion, and even his twin brother doesn't know of his existence; but after the father dies, the twin brother returns to his family home and discovers his crazed evil twin, referred to as a "monster", and he tries to carry on for his father, but then his brother escapes!) starring Albert Dekker (in a dual role as twins!), Susan Hayward (in her seventh credited movie role!), Harry Carey Sr., Frances Farmer, Gordon Jones, and Jean Phillips. Note that this movie is little remembered today, and it was a lesser effort from Paramount, who was trying to capitalize on Albert Dekker's success in Dr. Cyclops the year before, and it was the inspiration for a Simpsons "Treehouse of Horror" episode where Bart discovers he has had an evil twin brother, Hugo! Artist: Richardson Studio Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this Australian daybill, and that was 10 years ago! Note that this is one of an amazing collection of 62 linenbacked Australian daybills that all have great art from Richardson Studio (or John Richardson, before he became "Richardson Studio"!), which many collectors feel have the best art and design of any Australian daybills, and are highly sought after by collectors. These were accumulated by a very dedicated collector over many years, and they are now being all offered at once (in 62 separate auctions), so this is a wonderful opportunity to obtain one or many of these daybills, many of which rarely are offered for sale or at auction. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. Learn More about condition grades
