An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) The Trespasser, the 1929 Edmund Goulding romantic unwed mother musical melodrama (produced by Joseph P. Kennedy; about a secretary to a successful older lawyer, who marries a wealthy young man, and his family has the marriage annulled, but she is pregnant and her employer takes pity on her and provides financial support, which causes gossip that she is a "kept woman") starring Gloria Swanson (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; "In the peak role of her career"; "Her first all talking picture"), Robert Ames, Purnell Pratt, Henry B. Walthall, Wally Albright, William Holden (no, not THAT William Holden, but another actor of the same name who made 20 movies between 1920 and 1931, and he died the next year, which was 7 years before the more famous William Holden made his first movie!), and Blanche Friderici. Note that producer Joseph P. Kennedy was of course the father of Joe, John, Bobby, and Teddy Kennedy, and had a well publicized love affair with Gloria Swanson for many years (which is especially ironic in light of the fact that this movie has Swanson being mistaken for the mistress of an older successful man!). Finally, note that this was Gloria Swanson's first talking picture after many years of success in silent films, and after the disaster of filming the unfinished "Queen Kelly" for Erich von Stroheim, and Swanson badly needed a success. Reviewers say that not only was she excellent in this role, but she proved that she had a fine singing voice as well! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. The poster had small paper loss at the crossfolds. There were some tiny tears and very tiny areas of paper loss in the vertical foldline. There was a tear in the brown background area above Swanson's head. There were some tiny tears and tiny areas of paper loss in the top crossfold in Swanson's forehead. There were creases, tears, and tiny areas of paper loss across the bottom foldline. There were some creases, tears, pinholes, and areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was quite nicely backed. You can see very slight signs of the restoration, but it is not at all distracting. The poster in no way has a heavily restored look, and in fact, on first glance, appears to have had virtually no restoration! Learn More about condition grades
