An Original Vintage German Hardcover Campaign Book (measures 8 1/4" x 9" [21 x 23 cm]; 102 pages) (Learn More) UFA 1934-35, the 1934 hardcover German campaign book with an embossed gold UFA symbol on the cover. The book is smaller than most campaign books of the time (8 1/4" x 9"), but it is an actual fully bound hardcover book, and was surely very expensive to produce. Previous to our being consigned this hardcover book, we had been consigned a similar 1934 German UFA exhibitor magazine, and we thought that it might have been all that UFA produced that year, but obviously, that is now known to be incorrect (perhaps the magazine we auctioned was kind of like a supplement, perhaps put out after the regular hardcover, giving additional movies that had been added after the hardcover was printed). This hardcover campaign book features images and information about UFA films and stars for the upcoming year. Note that a number of the movies advertised in this campaign book starred Brigitte Helm, most famous for her starring role in Fritz Lang's Metropolis. Perhaps this is because she was one of the few major German stars who had not left Nazi Germany by 1934, so UFA put her in as many films as possible! The book has many 4-page ads for movies and full-page images of then current UFA stars. It is surely incredibly rare! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note: We have 12 images of the campaign books in this set, but due to a space limitation, only TEN of the 12 images are displayed above. However, there is a "supersize" link to the right of those images that lets you see the other 2. Condition: good to very good. The embossed golf UFA symbol on the cover has much scuffing, and we imagine virtually all surviving examples of this book have similar scuffing (if there are other surviving examples!). There is staining in the top edge of the cover and a small stain in the left of the cover in the orange area. Otherwise, the book is in pretty nice condition (see our images).
