An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

Popular Science, the 1941 stock poster ("What's new in the world of today and tomorrow!"; "Miracles of science on the screen!") used by theaters when showing releases of the Popular Science series documentary shorts which ran from 1935 to 1949. The series was created by independent Hollywood film producer Jerry Fairbanks, and produced with the cooperation of the editors of Popular Science magazine. The series introduced its audience to advances in medicine, aviation, science and technology, television, home improvement, planes, trains and automobiles, as well as an assortment of strange and whimsical inventions. During its theatrical run, the series was honored with numerous awards and acclaim, including 5 Academy Award nominations. The series also received a Special Commendation from the US Department of War in 1943 for its unparalleled coverage of American military technology involved World War II. Note that this poster had a large blank area where the specific title of the film being shown could be overprinted or a snipe applied.

Important Added Info: Note that we have only auctioned three examples of this rare poster in all our years of auctioning!

Condition: good to very good. The poster has a large snipe glued at lower center that ripples a few areas of the poster. It has tiny creases, tears, bits of paper loss and areas of separation along portions of the center horizontal fold and upper vertical foldline.
