An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded French Two-Panel "Double Grande" Movie Poster (2p; measures 61" x 90" [155 x 229 cm]; printed in 2 pieces) (Learn More) La Ronde, the 1950 (released in the U.S. in 1954) Max Ophuls French romantic melodrama (the movie has a clever "circular" format where there is a series of characters in a series of segments, and each new segment introduces a new character who has an affair with a character from the past segments) starring Simone Signoret, Anton Walbrook, Simone Simon, Serge Reggiani, Danielle Darrieux, Daniel Gelin, Odette Joyeux, Fernand Gravey, Jean-Louis Barrault (billed as "J.L. Barrault"), Isa Miranda, and Gerard Philipe. The "La Ronde" of the title refers to a merry-go-round that appears in the movie, but it also refers to the way romances evolve in a circular fashion, as illustrated by the segments of the movie! Note that this movie was remade by Roger Vadim in 1964 with Jane Fonda in the lead role (it was called "Circle of Love" when it was released in the U.S.). Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this French two-panel poster, which is a "country of origin" poster for this French movie! We don't know why this poster is SO rare, because we have auctioned a number of French one-panel posters, but it definitely is incredibly rare. Also note that this French two-panel measures 61" x 90" [155 x 229 cm], but it has not been trimmed. Finally, note that this French two-panel was printed in 2 sections designed to overlap. Condition: good to very good. There is a faint censor stamp in each left corner. There is 15" of separation in the top of the left vertical fold (this was on the outside when it was fully folded), with some small tears and tiny paper loss along that separation. Fortunately, this is mostly in a solid background area and slightly affects the lettering in that area. Otherwise, there are some creases and several tears along the folds that were on the outside when the poster was fully folded.
