An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Movie Window Card (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More) The Jungle, the 1914 George Irving, Jack Pratt & Augustus Thomas silent Chicago immigrant poverty meat packing industry melodrama ("Upton Sinclair's great story of the stockyards"; "Supported by an all star cast"; about how those who ran the meat packing industry in America in the early 1900s did many unethical things and exploited their workers) starring Gail Kane, George Nash, Julia Hurley, Robert Cummings, and Alice Marc. Note that this movie was based on the wildly successful book by Upton Sinclair that exposed many awful aspects of the meat packing industry and when he came time to make a movie of it, the meat packers naturally refused to cooperate, which forced the makers of the movie to have to purchase all the equipment and make replicas of real stockyards, because no meat packer would cooperate with them and let them use their businesses for filming! Reviews of the movie at the time say that it did justice to the book and helped further expose these injustices to the American people, which led to legislation that helped reform the industry. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned a single movie paper item from this movie until we received this window card! Also note that this window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded. Condition: very good to fine. The card has staining in the top left corner, almost completely in the blank border, but slightly entering the top rectangle for play dates. It has a few other minor border defects, but otherwise is in really nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
