Date Sold 10/26/2021Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Folded One-Sheet Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) the 1930s double-bill release ("Jumbo jungle jamboree!"; "Two wild-animal thrillers in one monster program"; "Jungle feature no. 1"; "With Mickey Rooney and a big cast!!"; "Jungle feature no. 2"; "A hissing, snarling, screeching challenge to man"; "All the thrills of a big game hunt!!") of The Lost Jungle, the 1934 Armand Schaefer & David Howard (billed as "Dave Howard") safari action adventure serial ("The greatest aggregation of wild beasts ever assembled for a motion picture"; "A Mascot Super-Serial") starring Clyde Beatty ("World's Greatest Animal Trainer"), ("and an all-star cast") Cecilia Parker, Mickey Rooney, Syd Saylor, Warner Richmond, Edward LeSaint, Hal Taliaferro, Sammy the Killer Lion, and the Hagenbeck-Wallace wild animals! Note that Mascot did something REALLY unusual with this serial! In addition to the regular 12 chapter version, they also released a second version where the first chapter was seven reels long, and that was followed by ten regular chapters. They told theaters that they could release this second version as a serial with a feature length first chapter, or they could simply show the seven reel first chapter as a feature on its own, because it was designed to work as a stand-alone movie (and it contained footage not seen in the regular twelve chapter serial version). Also note that there is something really cool about this movie! Mickey Rooney, who was 13 years old, played a juvenile in this, and Cecilia Parker, who was 20, played the "love interest". Just three years later, they would be cast as Andy Hardy and Marion Hardy, brother and sister, in the greatest series of "family" movies ever, the Andy Hardy movies! AND Jaws of the Jungle, the 1936 Eddie Granemann adventure documentary ("Stark Realism!"; "Demons of the wild on a rampage!"; "Fangs of death bared for the kill!") narrated by Cliff Howell and featuring "Gukar", "Minta", "Teeto", and "Walla". If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning! Condition: good. The poster has tiny creases, small to medium tears, and some bits of paper loss along portions of the vertical foldline. There is approximately 3-4" of separation at the top crossfold. It is otherwise "all there" and after proper restoration the very rare poster will display well, but bear in mind the poster's condition and the cost of restoration before bidding on it.
