The Patriot, the 1916 William S. Hart silent New Mexico family relationship cowboy western (about a war veteran who finds a goldmine, and he wants to earn enough money to take care of his young son, but crooked officials swindle him out of the mine and his son is killed, and he swears vengeance, and joins up with Mexican bandit "Pancho Zapilla", who intends to destroy his whole town, and the movie has an exciting finish) starring William S. Hart, Georgie Stone, Francis Carpenter, and Joe Goodboy. Note that when one reads plot summaries of William S. Hart movies, it is easy to see why they were so incredibly popular in their day, because they were so much more complex and dramatic than most movies of their time!
