Date Sold 6/30/2016Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Unfolded Stage Play Poster (measures 28 1/4" x 42" [72 x 107 cm]) (Learn More) Fogg's Ferry, the 1893 stage play production ("The new comedy drama"; "The NEW Fogg's Ferry"; "By Chas. E. Callahan"; "'Don't kill me, Mammy!'"). We were able to determine that the playwright, Charles Edward Callahan lived from 1845 to 1917, but we could find no further information (and Fogg's Ferry appears to be a fictional location). A knowledgeable collector tells us that this was a late 1800s touring stage show which centered around the character of the daughter of a wealthy judge. If anyone knows more about this stage play, please e-mail us and we will post it here. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is one of a remarkable group of around 100 guaranteed authentic mostly war posters (around 75 war posters, plus 25 others, including political ones) mostly dating from before 1900 through 1945, with 15 from after that date! These were originally acquired by an archive decades ago, and they have been in storage ever since, until they were recently consigned to us. Many of these are the sorts of posters that you can find reproductions of on the Internet, but finding guaranteed originals like these is incredibly difficult (years can go by before these are offered for sale or at auction). This is a very rare opportunity to purchase any of these more than 100 posters! Condition: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It had small stains and small tears around the edges, with staining in the top right corner that extends into the solid background and some tiny bits of paper loss in the border. Someone put paper tape on the back of all the borders to reinforce them. Any talented restorer could remove the tape from the back of the poster and linenback it, but bear this in mind before placing a bid on this poster. Learn More about condition grades
