An Original Vintage Movie Script (measures 8 1/2" x 11" [22 x 28 cm], 112 pages) (Learn More)

The Pearl of Death, the 1944 Roy William Neill detective murder mystery crime thriller ("20 Men die for it. A girl risks her life. The Creeper stalks to kill!"; "The master minds tackle the master crimes!"; "Marked for a sudden and violent death!"; "A girl risked everything for it!"; "20 men lost their lives for it!"; "Who was the Creeper?"; "Based on 'The Six Napoleons' by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle") starring Basil Rathbone (as Sherlock Holmes), Nigel Bruce (as Doctor Watson), Evelyn Ankers, Dennis Hoey (as Inspector Lestrade), Miles Mander, Mary Gordon, and Rondo Hatton (as The Creeper). Click on Rondo Hatton's name to learn more about this actor, who suffered from acromegaly, which distorted his features (but Universal saw this as a good thing, because they could cast him as a "monster" without any makeup!).

Important Added Info: Note that we previously auctioned a different script from this movie, which was from one week early, March 21, 1944, and that one sold for $2,500!

Note that this script is the revised draft from March 28, 1944 and the screenplay was written by Bertram Millhauser. Also note that there are blue revision pages from 4/3/44 and 4/6/44. The script has "M. Hecht" written in the top right corner of the cover, and this was surely a cast or crew member, but we could not discover what he did on this show. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Note that there were obviously paper shortages in 1944, because the back cover of this script was once the front cover from a script from 1943 called "Allergic to Love", and they used it as the back cover for this script, putting a pencil mark across the title!

Condition: good to very good. There are some small paper chips out of the edges of the cover and back cover, but otherwise, the script is in nice condition, especially considering its age! See our multiple images to get a good sense of the exact condition of this script.
