An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Swedish Movie Poster (measures approximately 27" x 39") (Learn More) The Dark Angel, the 1935 Sidney Franklin World War I (WWI) military romantic love triangle melodrama ("From a play by Guy Bolton"; written by Lillian Hellman; about two male best friends both in love with the same woman, and they go off to World War I, and at the last second, she chooses one of them, and then the one she did not choose sends his best friend on a dangerous mission, which changes all of their lives forever!) starring Fredric March, Merle Oberon (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Herbert Marshall, Janet Beecher and John Halliday NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Moje Aslund Important Added Info: This Swedish poster measures approximately 27" x 39" and is linenbacked. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were extremely well restored, OR it had some very minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). Note that we gave this condition grade to a very few posters that were in pretty good condition prior to linenbacking, but which were not all that well linenbacked, and which could be fairly easily re-backed with only minor additional restoration. The poster was tri-folded only. There was a diagonal crease in the top right corner and a few tears and tiny areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster. Overall, the poster was in very good to fine condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer linenbacked the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the tiny defects, but they are really not at all distracting (and any restorer could easily touch them up without re-backing the poster).
